It does not effect me to be honest. I still have a lot of work that I can do and I doubt that the boss can get rid of me without finding another person who can do my job. He is not exactly very computer literate and he is a pretty nice guy. I have even gone on a couple of fishing trips with him. He lives in Falls Church, but he has a place on the Chesapeake Bay and a really nice boat. The outsourced call center thing was not something he wanted to do to be honest, I could tell all along. However our needs were growing and he sat down with me and the head of my department. We were the ones who presented him with the options, of course neither of us would have been sitting there telling him to send out jobs out to someone else. We told him what could be outsourced and figured out exactly how much it was going to cost.
The hard part was figuring out who could provide the sort of performance that you need. Any dope can answer a phone and give you an answer that is not very helpful. We wanted to test these people with some real life problems and also try to figure out if their people were really good at this. A lot of times what you have are people who are in their basements reading from a script. They might not actually understand the way that you fix something like this, nor even exactly what they are being asked by the client. Of course a person like myself is a bit expensive too and if you had that sort of training you might not want to get a job in a call center that did not pay well.
